The Birds...

I had breakfast early this morning with my friend Nolan. So we are sitting there at taco shack and he is holding up a piece of tortilla, and a bird swoops down and excavates it from his hand. He spent the rest of the meal with a fork in his hand attempting to stab the crows. Ultra paranoid and in defiant protest to the dominating nature of the birds he set one up with a trap. He laid down some tortilla and baited it close, and then hit it with a large roll of aluminum foil and paper... the bird is now dead (well... somewhere he is)

It was a great start to the day...

The last day of my internship was today. I stapled a bunch of packets, wrapped up my semester long research project and left the Texas Freedom Network with a profound respect for everyone that dedicates their lives to a cause. I think thats special, and not very common...

Speaking of people who are special, and a breed unlike most; my friends are nuts. Today, i was at the fine dining establishment of Tony's Southern Cookin' on East 6th Street, with Gabe, Travis and Nikolas. The conversation ranged from tittie bars, to the audacity of hope and back to tittie bars. And of course, the conversation had to be loud, and had to take place beside a table of elderly folks. I tend to hate being rude, and loud in restaurants, and prefer to stick to social norms and mores in public. But i think i am developing a love/hate relationship with social awkwardness. Like today, I felt as if at any moment we were going to get kicked out, but thought that was awesome, perhaps this is pointing to a paradigm shift of my social behavior away from the conservative and always calculated approach i have always taken... whatever

All things considered, i played golf and pissed off a bunch of gezzers today: and it was glorious.

I decided today that i want to work for NPR when i go to Washington... thats all

Why i created a blog...

I am coming to the realization that i am about to leave my family, friends, and that random guy i see and wave at everyday (but have no idea who he is) for a very long time. The rough draft of my schedule for the next year is looking a lot like this.

May 28th - July 5th --> Austin, TX (Summer School)
July 5th - August 15th --> Mt. Ida, Arkansas (Camp Ozark)
August 15th - August 25 --> Cypress, TX ( Hanging around)
August 25th - December__ --> Asia (Semester at Sea)
Mid December - Mid January --> Cypress, TX
Mid January - Summer 08' --> Washington D.C. (Archer Fellowship)

To keep all of you (my loving friends, family, and random dude) up to date on what i will be doing over the next year, i created this blog. I plan on giving first person accounts, or stories, and not really recapping what my days are like. On occasion, i will probably give a mushy "I miss my girlfriend tirade" but mostly, i will keep it entertaining with the most random or hilarious things i have the honor of being a witness to.

I plan to write every day, and will keep my language PG, and PC. Thus, everyone is welcome to read.

I am really looking forward to going, but realize it is going to be hard to leave everything i have in this world behind to go do something that will inevitably change my very core. I look forward to improving myself over this year, while strengthening the positive characteristics i already possess.

This year will be a test of fortitude, faith, love, ability and will. But at the end, i think this blog will tell the story of a young guy that had a great year doing some pretty awesome things.

ENJOY!!!
